A Visit to the Toolkit Skills and Innovation Hub in Nairobi, Kenya

A green paradise at the outskirts of Nairobi

During our recent trip to Nairobi, Kenya, we had the pleasure of connecting with Jane Muigai Kamphuis, a remarkable woman whose passion for empowering young adults is truly inspiring. Jane invited us to visit the Toolkit Skills and Innovation Hub, and we eagerly accepted the opportunity to learn more about her impactful work.

Located on the outskirts of Nairobi, the hub is a true green paradise—a serene space dedicated to nurturing both skills and sustainability. Surrounded by lush greenery, the hub features a collection of educational buildings alongside a thriving field and garden, where young adults are trained in sustainable farming techniques. The hub also provides hands-on training for various jobs, from farming to welding, equipping participants with the skills they need to build brighter futures.

Inspiration in Action: Exploring Opportunities at the Hub

The tour was both enlightening and inspiring. Walking through the grounds, we witnessed firsthand the dedication of Jane and her team as they worked tirelessly to transform lives. Each corner of the hub reflected their commitment to fostering sustainable livelihoods and creating opportunities for the community.

At the end of the tour, we sat down with Jane to discuss potential ways to collaborate in the future. It was a meaningful conversation filled with possibilities, and we left feeling grateful for the connection and inspired by the hub’s vision.

A Farewell Filled with Promise

As the sun set over this beautiful space, we said our goodbyes and headed off to catch our flight to Ethiopia, carrying with us not only the memories of the visit but also the hope of impactful collaboration to come.
